Hail To The NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter


A hat tip to the crew of the NOAA ship Gordon Gunter who sent along this photo of them proudly displaying their Amver pennant.

Pictured from left to right are LTJG Ryan Wattam, LT Hector Casanova, NOAA fisheries biologist Carrie Horton, LCDR Brian Parker, and ENS Michael Robbie.

In the words of the Gunter crew, "Amver, we don't leave port without it!"

    I AM THE PORT METEOROLOGICAL OFFICER IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. I WORK WITH THE "SEAS" PROGRAM AND INSTALL AMVER/SEAS PGM ON NUMEROUS SHIPS. I NOW HAVE HAD 2 OCCASSIONS OF SHIPS REPORTING THAT WHEN ENTERING THEIR WEATHER OBSERVATIONS INTO THE PROGRAM, THE PROGRAM GIVES THEM AN ERROR STATING THAT THEY ARE SEVERAL MILES OFF OF THE ENTERED MOVEMENT REPORT IN AMVER. THEY HAVE STATED THAT IT WILL GIVE A NUMBER SUCH AS 421 NM'S OFF COURSE. THE SHIPS HAVE BEEN ON THEIR INTENDED COURSES BUT THE PROGRAM STATES THEY ARE NOT. BOTH OF THE VERSIONS OF THE PROGRAM ARE THE LATES VERSION AVAILABLE 8.0. HAS ANYONE HAD ANY FEEDBACK ON YOUR END WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM? IF SO, IS THERE A REMEDY/FIX?
