Jessica Watson, a 16 year old from Australia, is attempting a record breaking solo sail around the world. She is hoping to become the youngest person to sail around the world unassisted. How does this affect Amver? She may become the youngest solo sailor rescued by an Amver participating ship.MSNBC reports her family is confident, stating Watson has studied navigation, electronics, and maritime safety. Her 34 foot pink sailboat set sail from Sydney on October 18, 2009.
Rescuing adventurers isn't new to Amver ships. There have been several yachtsmen rescued when their vessels were in distress such as these Italian, French, and American sailors.
We wish Jessica fair winds and follow seas and will be following her progress on her blog.
