Despite this voluntary status, ships from around the globe join and commit to sending their positions and, if called up on in an emergency, delaying the delivery of their good in order to save lives at sea. What an amazing relationship. The relationship, the trust between the world's shipping community and the United States is something that should be celebrated and replicated.
