Welcome Wednesday!

How do you join Amver? It's easy, just sign up here. There isn't much to it. Some basic information about your ship, contact details, medical compliment on board the ship. These details, coupled with the sail plan that ships provide prior to a journey, are what differentiate Amver from other vessel tracking services. Also, Amver information is ONLY used for search and rescue. It isn't used for regulatory or law enforcement purposes. So why not enroll in Amver today?  Help us welcome the latest members of the Amver safety network.

Amver Participating Container Ship Saves Two

The Amver participating container ship Venetiko saved two fishermen from a vessel that sank approximately 154 miles southeast of Puerto Rico on Friday, August 23, 2019.

Search and rescue authorities at rescue coordination center Fort de France notified U.S. Coast Guard authorities in San Juan of a possible overdue vessel with two people aboard. The fishing boat was presumably four days overdue from a voyage departing from Dominica. Rescue personnel in Curacao were also assisting in the search and rescue efforts.

U.S. Coast Guard personnel queried the Amver system and located the 915-foot Amver participating container ship Venetiko which agreed to divert and search for the missing boat. The Liberian flagged ship was able to locate the overdue boat and safety rescued the two fishermen. The two fishermen were disembarked at the Venetiko’s next port call in Columbia.

The Venetiko, managed by Costamare Shipping of Greece, enrolled in Amver on August 19, 2008 and has earned eight Amver participation awards.

Welcome Wednesday!

Each week, for more than 60 years, we have shared the new vessels enrolled in Amver. This week is no different. We do this because we feel it is important to recognize greatness. Not that ships that don't participate in Amver aren't somehow great. Rather, those that elect to participate have taken an extra step, made an extra commitment to safety at sea. You can take that extra step and enroll here. Now help us welcome the latest members of the Amver safety network.

Welcome Wednesday!

Amver remains unique in that is is voluntary. Despite this voluntary status, ships from around the globe join and commit to sending their positions and, if called up on in an emergency, delaying the delivery of their good in order to save lives at sea. What an amazing relationship. The relationship, the trust between the world's shipping community and the United States is something that should be celebrated and replicated. Thank you for supporting Amver. Now help us welcome the latest members of the Amver safety network.
