97 years ago today 1,517 people perished when the RMS Titanic sank in the icy waters of the North Atlantic.
Amver traces its history from the Titanic disaster and today works to ensure no call for help goes unanswered.
If you are in Southwest Washington, DC today stop by P Street, SW near Fort Leslie McNair and visit the memorial (pictured below) erected by the Women's Titanic Memorial Association in 1931.
The plaque on the memorial reads-
To the brave men who perished in the wreck of the Titanic April 15, 1912. They gave their lives that women and children might be saved. Erected by the Women of America.
If you are in New York City there are six memorials in Manhattan that have something to do with Titanic.
Take a moment and remember those that were lost.
